ChordThing.com is a simple online tool, for Church and gigging musicians, for managing and displaying your chord charts and setlists.
It was born out of a need that I had, to have a quick way to put song lists together for gigs and worship events and display them easily on any PC
(Mac's too - I'm not fussy!).
It allows you (and me) to:
- Quickly paste chord charts and lyrics into the system and retrieve them again later
- Easily transpose your chord charts to suit fussy valued musicians or croaky people singing in the morning
- Create and retrieve set lists up to 50 songs long (That's gotta be long enough - surely!)
- Display your set lists full-screen, and quickly navigate and re-order songs while playing (assuming you're playing a guitar... probably not so easy if you're playing bagpipes)
What does it cost?
Right - down to brass tacks and all that. While it's still in beta, ChordThing will remain free.
However, once it's fully tested and actually goes live for real, you will need to subscribe (approx £3 per month) to continue to use the service. I know we all
hate paying for stuff (particularly when that particular stuff was free for a bit - hello Spotify!), but there a few good reasons that I'll
be completely up-front about:
- ChordThing will always be ad-free. To stay ad-free it needs to be able to wipe its... er... nose. It costs a bit to host etc!
- ChordThing will keep developing. As already mentioned there'll be new features cropping up all the time.
BUT - Good news everyone!
To say thanks to all you patient people who helped to test and perfect ChordThing we will be giving FREE LIFETIME MEMBERSHIP to the 15
most active users during the beta period. So... sign up and get busy and you might never have to pay to use ChordThing!
